I set myself a challenge: write a poem every day for a week. But why? Because I love writing poetry, yet I struggled with consistency. I needed to create a habit of showing up. You can listen to the podcast episode here 👉 Buildwriting Podcast I Wrote a Poem EVERY DAY for a Week (INSANE Challenge!) The Simple Rules
The ProcessEach day, I would sit down and write. Some days felt inspired, with the Muse whispering in my ear. Other days, I questioned every word. But the primary goal was simple: show up. Time TrackingI used a Notion dashboard to track my writing time: - Day 1: 10 minutes - Day 2: 8 minutes - Day 3: 3 minutes - Day 4: 6 minutes - Day 5: 7 minutes - Day 6: 7 minutes Lessons LearnedTime and Money Reveal Your True Priorities What you spend time on shows what you truly value. If you say you love something—like writing—your actions must align with those words. A Writer’s EssenceTo be a writer, you write. The adjectives change: some days you feel like a great writer, other days a terrible one. But consistency is key. The Poem: Scribbled PeaceHere’s the poem I wrote on February 1st, 2025: There is a music that plays after the songs we knew stopped playing
There is a day dawned on me after the night broke into a heavy surprise
There are steps running into oblivion and back
What I know is after my scribbled peace
I am a stick figure moving and not moving at any point in time
I am yesterday’s morning dew
I am today’s cloud
I am the forthcoming news the village is waiting for
I am you
I really am
